As artificial intelligence becomes more embedded in everyday life, one question matters more than ever: who gets to shape the data behind it? At Tictag, we believe that AI must be built with diverse communities, not just for them. Inclusion is not a side initiative, it is essential to building technology that understands and serves everyone fairly.

A Hands-On Workshop for Accessibility

On 18 August 2025, Tictag partnered with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (Singapore) to host a hands-on workshop introducing persons with disabilities (PwDs) to the Tictag App. Eight participants joined the session, including one who participated remotely from the Philippines.

The focus was simple: provide a supportive environment for participants to explore the app, understand how tasks work, and experience data annotation firsthand. Their energy, curiosity, and willingness to learn demonstrated a powerful truth, when technology is accessible, it creates real opportunities, not just theoretical ones.

Why Inclusion Matters in AI

This initiative echoes the core belief that underpins our work: AI can only be fair if the data behind it represents diverse experiences. When PwDs take part in the data annotation ecosystem, they contribute perspectives that are often missing in traditional datasets. Their input helps ensure AI systems recognise a wider range of contexts, behaviours, and needs, reducing the risk of bias and improving real-world performance.

This isn’t just the right thing to do; it directly improves the quality and reliability of AI solutions.

Human-in-the-Loop, Strengthened by Diversity

Tictag’s Human-in-the-Loop approach relies on real people, our Taggers, who annotate and refine data. When Taggers come from diverse backgrounds, including PwDs, they spot nuances that automated systems fail to capture. Their work strengthens the foundation on which AI models are built, making them more ethical, accurate, and inclusive.

Looking Ahead

The MDAS workshop is one step in our broader commitment to accessible AI. Tictag aims to expand these opportunities globally, ensuring that underrepresented communities can participate in, contribute to, and benefit from the growing AI economy.
